There’s something about photographing families that always makes me slow down and pause. Maybe it’s the way children grow right before our eyes, or how a single photo can help us hold on to a season that seems to pass too quickly. As a San Diego family photographer, these quiet moments, especially with little ones, always feel like such a gift.

A Hidden Gem in North County
I met up with Emily and her beautiful family at Eagle Scout Lake, nestled inside Kit Carson Park in North County San Diego. I’ve passed by this area many times, but somehow never noticed the lake tucked away inside. The sky that day was overcast, soft and moody, and it made the whole place feel a bit like a hidden retreat, calm, cozy, and full of wonder.

Capturing the Joy of Toddlers in Family Sessions
Their little boy reminded me so much of my own son, wide-eyed, curious, and full of that toddler energy that keeps us on our toes. He was fascinated by my camera, always eager to peek at the screen after each click. I couldn’t help but laugh, wondering if he was just keeping tabs on me, making sure I was doing my job.

A Sweet Moment of Adventure and Connection
One of my favorite moments was when he leapt over a log with a little help from mom and dad. The joy, the movement, the teamwork, it all came together in one perfect photo that I know they’ll cherish for years.

Thank You
Emily, thank you so much for letting me capture this chapter of your family’s story. It was such a joy to spend the morning with you all in one of San Diego’s hidden gems. Your love for each other shines so brightly, and I can’t wait to see how your family continues to grow.
